Two domestic helps were killed and a girl was injured in a fire that broke out at a building in Banani early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Mim, 17 and Swapna, 16.

Nure-Azam-Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Banani Police Station, said the fire originated on the 4th floor of a 10-storey building at 69 Block F, Road no 3 in capital’s Banani at 1:56am.

Upon receiving the news, four units of the fire service rushed to the spot and extinguish the fire at 2.40 am, he said.

Later, the house helps were found unconscious in the bathroom of the building and taken to Metropolitan Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead, he added.

After the legal process, Banani police sent the bodies to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsies, the OC said.
